Vincent Village Executive Director Sharon Tucker selected to be Mayor of Fort Wayne!
by John Christensen, Board President
Sharon Tucker went from city councilwoman and Executive Director of the only transitional homeless shelter for families in Allen County to the mayor of the second fastest growing metro in the Great Lakes Region.
One of the many reasons she was able to make this giant leap was because she exudes love and joy in everything she does and with every person she meets. I witnessed her smile brightening every room as her easy, off-the-charts emotional intelligence connected all around her.
This unique ability to engage and put others at ease was paramount in her role at Vincent Village, as she met people at the most vulnerable and difficult time of their life.
Sharon brought families “home,” where acceptance and understanding are ever present -- where they have a chance to breathe again, to build trust again, and finally, to feel seen again.
I assure you that Sharon left Vincent Village better than it was when she entered it. As with so many things in her life, she understood the assignment and exceeded expectations.
She is a role model for me and a light for all women who lead with love and lean into others with drive and passion to raise the tide for all.
At Vincent Village, we give families the opportunity to re-imagine and re-establish their personal legacy in a way that ensures their children will never experience the generational cycle of homelessness. We are proud of Sharon's work at Vincent Village and are excited to watch her lead Fort Wayne into the future!
