The annual Vincent Village Art Show began in 2018 to highlight our youth services program and give youth an opportunity to channel their emotions.
Processing emotion is important for mental health and art is a great outlet. Using
visual expression and color, we’ve been working with the youth of Vincent Village
to provide them with a way to release their feelings and explore their creativity. For backgrounds, in particular, we wanted to encourage the kids to think about their emotions - things that made them happy, proud, loved, or excited. Additional sessions were focused on learning new painting techniques such as shading, detailing, dabbing, highlighting, brushing, and adding visual texture.
